THE 8TH ANNUAL DRUKPA COUNCIL (ADC) – MEETING OF THE DRUKPA MASTERS

Envisioned by His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, His Holiness the 70th Je Khenpo and many other great Drukpa masters, the Annual Drukpa Council (ADC) is an annual event where all the masters of the lineage from Tibet, Bhutan, Ladakh, Kinnaur, Lahaul, Sikkim and other parts of the Himalayas and its followers could come together to revive some unique aspects of the Drukpa Lineage and share the 1000 over years old rich spiritual legacy with the world through the inspiration of teachings, initiations and oral transmissions. This 8th edition of ADC will embrace different aspects of the Himalayan region, including an exhibition of the diversity of Himalayan cultures and traditions.

OPENING CEREMONY OF NAROPA FESTIVAL 2018 & NAROPA FELLOWSHIP, PUBLIC DISPLAY OF HOLY RELICS, BOOK & MUSIC ALBUM LAUNCHING, PANEL DISCUSSION & THE HIMALAYAN HEROES AWARD, FOLLOWED BY “A TRIBUTE TO NAROPA” - A CONCERT BY KAILASH KHER & ARTISTS FROM LADAKH AND HIMALAYAS

The Naropa Festival returns this year to Ladakh with a celebration of spirituality, humanity, heritage, culture, diversity and music. This year’s opening ceremony will also mark a new chapter for the Himalayas, especially for Ladakh, with the official start of the Naropa Fellowship (www.naropafellowship.org). After the launch of His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa’s new book “Musings from the Heart” and the first EDM album of Ladakh, a panel discussion will conclude the daytime program, before an evening of “The Himalayan Heroes” Award Presentation Ceremony and “A Tribute to Naropa” evening concert with Kailash Kher performing with artists from Ladakh and Himalayas.

UNFURLING OF THE LARGEST SILK EMBROIDERED BROCADE OF BUDDHA AMITABHA DAY 1, PUBLIC DISPLAY OF HOLY RELICS, TEACHING & DIALOGUE, ARCHERY COMPETITION & “INCREDIBLE LADAKH” FASHION SHOW, FOLLOWED BY “A TRIBUTE TO NAROPA” - A CONCERT BY SWARANSH MISHRA & ARTISTS FROM LADAKH & HIMALAYAS

The largest silk embroidered brocade of Buddha Amitabha will be unfurled, granting the blessing of boundless light and longevity from 8am to 12pm. The public will continue to queue for an opportunity to sight the holy relics in close proximity, while teaching, dialogue and a traditional archery competition take place. Besides performances by devotees and “Incredible Ladakh” fashion show displaying the unique and diverse culture of Ladakh, the evening will conclude with performances by Swaransh Mishra and artists from Ladakh and Himalayas as a tribute to Naropa.

The largest silk embroidered brocade of Buddha Amitabha will be unfurled for the second day, granting the blessing of boundless light and longevity from 8am to 12pm. The public will continue to queue for an opportunity to sight the holy relics in close proximity, while teaching, dialogue and a traditional archery competition take place. The evening will conclude with performances by Papon and artists from Ladakh and Himalayas as a tribute to Naropa.

The largest silk embroidered brocade of Buddha Amitabha will be unfurled for the last day, granting the blessing of boundless light and longevity from 8am to 12pm. The public will continue to queue for an opportunity to sight the holy relics in close proximity, while teaching, dialogue and a traditional archery competition take place. The evening will conclude with performances by Aditi Singh Sharma, Akriti Kakar and artists from Ladakh and Himalayas as a tribute to Naropa.

GRAND CLOSING CEREMONY & GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ATTEMPT FOR “LARGEST LADAKHI DANCE” & PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES, FOLLOWED BY “A TRIBUTE TO NAROPA” - A CONCERT BY SONU NIGAM & ARTISTS FROM LADAKH & HIMALAYAS

The Grand Closing Ceremony and Guinness World Records attempt for “Largest Ladakhi Dance” followed by presentation of certificates and prizes. The evening will conclude with Sonu Nigam’s colourful performances in tribute to Naropa, along with artistes from Ladakh and Himalayas.
